Course Description

This course explores the circumstances and motivation of the full range of unethical and uncivil conduct. Specifically, the course examines the impact external forces have on professional behavior and whether the existing system will sufficiently deter the scale of unethical behavior shaking our society.

The Guthrie tackles this topic by focusing on readings of the play Faith Healer as well as actual transcripts from trials, depositions, and other real life events.

The performances will spark a colorful debate from a moderated panel. Covering a range of disciplines, the panel will approach the issue from legal, ethical and psychological perspectives. One of the panelists is Egil “Bud” Krogh, a lawyer who became famous as an official of the Richard Nixon administration, and who was imprisoned for his role in the Pentagon Papers break-in and events that eventually led up to Watergate.
